Triple play is the term used by telecommunication companies
who offer digital TV – video on demand (VOD) IPTV, phone calls and a high
speed broadband internet connection all through one broadband line. These services
also apply to cable operators. It is the broadband experience which is revolutionizing
the telecommunication industry. It is more than a passing trend it is the way
of the future in interactive entertainment. Companies around the world are in
the process of expanding their networks to accommodate the wants and needs of
the user. Users want more than the standard analogue television, high price
telephone calls and an average speed internet connection. Users are demanding
a home entertainment network which is easy to set-up and use with the ability
to quickly browse a large index video library, an easy one touch recording of
programs, the ability to choice when to watch their programs and of the unlimited
telephone calls.
With triple play services the users utilise their high speed internet connection (usually based on the technology of ADSL2+) to meet their entertainment demands. These services simplify the life on the consumer by converging data, voice and video and supplying 1 bill for all the services. Triple Play services are slowly becoming a reality in the market place especially in Europe and more so in France. Nearly all main operators in France offer triple play services and the United Kingdom are slowly catching up. Triple Play Providers
