Home VoIP
Even if you haven't tried an Internet telephone, you've probably heard of VoIP.
VoIP is not just for offices and big Companies. VoIP for the Home is also becoming popular. Internet telephony, or Voice over Internet Protocol (VOIP), is an adaptation of audio conferencing or audio chat, where a telephone conversation is routed through an IP network (like the Internet) instead of over the standard telephone system. There are several options which you can use. First the Softphone which is software based and is installed on your PC. Second the telephone handset that connects to a computer and also uses the software installed on your PC (USB Phone), or a handset that connects directly to your Router (Ethernet/LAN Phone) meaning you do not have to have your computer on to use your internet phone. There is also the Analog Telephone Adapters ( ATA Adaptors) which lets you connects a normal telephone to it and transforms it into a Voip phone. The newest product range is now the WiFi phones which are wireless VoIP phones. As you have now probably realised, Internet phone and Voip phone are one and the same.
